Ultrasound Fat Cavitation/Lipocavitation/Non-invasive ultrasonic fat removal - NUFR - Session#3

I went to my third Ultrasound Fat Cavitation (also called Non-invasive ultrasonic fat removal - NUFR) session yesterday.

Read my posts about my first session, and second session

Definitely not convinced by this fat loss technique…and glad I only paid AU $99 for the three sessions! My target area was my inner thighs and I have seen NO difference

In addition, as I mentioned in previous posts, the studio I went to in Sydney CBD near Town Hall, called Paragon Studios”, was extremely disappointing.

I went there anonymously (didn’t mention the blog), expecting to receive "normal" treatments which I had paid for in advance through Scoopon Australia (AU$99 for 3 sessions).

The owner (Kelly) was VERY unfriendly to me on each occasion. She didn’t explain once the machinery or technique (despite my questions) and only gave me brief after care instructions (only after my first session). Her assistant (the one performing the treatment), had a generally friendly attitude, but couldn't speak or understand English, which offered no way to communicate with her either. All of my questions were left unanswered, I've received a very poor service is the least we can say. If you are in Sydney don't go there.

Mademoiselle Slimalicious' verdict
  • Done three sessions and wasted my money
  • No visible results after the three sessions
  • Still think it can be armful to health (it's harmuful to foetus - they tell you to not do it if you are pregnant - so how come it wouldn't be harmful to us too?)

If anyone has tried Ultrasound Fat Cavitation/Lipocavitation/NUFR and had positive (or negative) results, I would like to hear your story! Don’t be shy, leave a comment!

  1. Hi, I'm pleased to read other people have tried this.
I bought this on groupon, which is similar to where you bought your vouchers. I have had 8 sessions on my arms (equivalent to 4 20 minute sessions on each, as the session split 10 and 10 per arm)
I have lost 2 inches from each arm. I am now using my remaining 4 sessions on my stomach. When I went into the clinic, the beautician said that they recommend a minimum of 6 20 minute treatments before you really start to see results. So maybe this is the case.
I didn't lose anything after my first session, but then after that I lost half an inch after nearly every session.
It is a shame you didn't get the results you wanted. I am really happy with mine, so much so, that I have invested in a machine of my own, to carry on the treatments on myself (mainly to save me money)
Please keep posting, I enjoy your blog!

    2. Hi. I am interested from learning from the person posting as
      "Anonymous @ May 11, 2012 9:38 PM"
about the Ultrasound fat reduction machine purchased.

What kind of price is this?

Is it the same machine, of the same kind of power as the clinics, or a less powerful home version?

Are you finding it is working?

What kind of value for money would this give you for use over the period of a year?

I am going to be trying a few sessions in a clinic soon, I've not tried the Ultrasound fat blaster before. With only 3 sessions, I don't know if I'll see the benefit, if it's 6 that you really need.

    1. Hello, thank you for your comment, and my apologies for getting back to you so late. I've just returned from a holiday overseas. I wouldn't recommend to use the ultrasound fat cavitation machine if you are trying to fall pregnant anytime soon. It's not worth taking risks for your baby. And you will most likely put on some weight during your pregnancy.

    2. I am no expert, but I believe the fat re-distribution and drainage is unlikely to make any difference at all to the health of your body after a few weeks. As long as you have followed practices to allow the fat to leave your body or settle elsewhere less fatty. Drinking lots of water, physical aerobic activity, healthy foods, not eating high calories for a period after the sessions.

After the fat has drained or resettled, I don't think there would be any problem for your health or that of a foetus in weeks afterwards. I think it would be wise to leave weeks, at least a month, though, before trying to conceive.

If you have substantially high cholesterol, that might be a different issue, and you should ask your doctor about that.

Again, I'm not an expert, and your doctor should help you, ask. But as far as I know, the doctors don't actually know anything about the possibilities of this other than that very quick or spontaneous fat loss needs to be drained well or allowed to resettle - and you should keep drinking a lot and keep up aerobic activity. Don't let it drop after a few days, keep striding with arms going 15 to 20 minutes twice a day for a couple of weeks. I think doctors should tell you that if you do that there isn't really any known potential for harm, but that they don't finally know themselves about this.

    3. NO - I have just dome my training on a machine. Its so sad you never had a spa experience with the full explanation. Pregnancy - no, not recommended. It is a non invasive Ultrasonic treatment using Radio waves of 40hz - Look its does not harm you because its on your tummy or legs etc. Baby is inside and the waves will be on her/his head or heart. There are areas that are not meant to be covered by the tool. Heart, boney places. Bones can be sore and because its fairly new, we generally avoid heart areas.

Results are real if done correctly and 4 inches can be noticed after 3 sessions. Cavitation is a cellulite smoothing technique and depending on the fat cell concentration - it takes longer in some places. It does not replace surgery though. It tomes and helps your body reach metabolized fat loss - if you are a little big, it won't give you Cindy Crawfords body but you can lose about 6 inches on your own shape. Its not a permanent solution as food and diet needs to be looked at also.

No pregnant people should do it.
Not to be done when menstruating also - can give painfull period.
Headaches can be a side affect
Some redness of skin for a couple days
Diabetics - no don't do it
      Epileptic - no allowed

you should have been told this

      Kind regards

I also bought a groupon vouchure for this Paragon Studios and received the exact same treatment with no one to explain what was about to happen and unfriendly owner. I left there and by the time I got home I felt like I'd been run over by a truck I had my tummy done and for the next 3 - 4 days I was in soooo much pain.
I went to my dr and there was damage done I highly doubt they were even qualified! Don't go there!!!!

  6. I had 2 done (also bought a groupon). Of course they tried to sell me on the 5 or 10 more sessions. But they were really spendy, so i thought i'd just see how these went. The weird part is - they keep saying i lost cms, but i measured myself and i swear it's what they started at. Did anyone that lost cms actually measure themselves? I did my inner thighs - they say i lost 16 total cms (from 3 spots they measured) and i really can tell no difference. I'd rather see it didn't work than have them lie to me!

  14. It does work – but slowly – I've had 14 sessions so far – twice a week at Slim by Design in Sydney. At first I also thought it was a rip off and wasn't going to rebook but I've lost about 10cm on waist and man boobs/beer belly are significantly reduced.

Not cheap but it definitely works.

  15. Hi,

I bought a voucher through Spreets on whim. It was three sessions for $259. It included ultrasound cavitation, electro lipolysis, far infared and a 4 in 1 radio frequency, led, massage and cryotherapy.

I did not take measurements (i thought they would) but did weight myself and lost only 500 gms after the sessions. (spread over two weeks). but i did notice a large difference in my tummy. Since having kids I had a very badly stretched tummy. My boobs sat on it when I sat down and people used to ask if I had only a few months to go to give birth. :0 I am overweight but not that bad! I had the treatments on my tummy and legs. There was a considerable difference right from the first treatment. The whole area of my stomach was definitely reduced and it felt tighter and did not even come close to my boobs when I sat. Also my legs looked much less dimpled and some of the unsightly veins had disappeared and the skin felt smoother. In fact although fat they look and feel better than they have done in years.

When undergoing treatment the beautician said the 4 in 1 Radio frequency/Cool Cure treatment worked the best on all her patients. I know that the electro lipolysis was like being tortured but my muscles got a work out. I am not sure which session worked best but I was pleased by the results. Would I spend $1400 to do it (Only if I had it spare), would I spend $259 - without question.

One more thing. I have Lupus so researched the treatments just in case they caused me problems. I found some further medical information which suggested that Radio Frequency, Cryotherapy and Near-infrared laser treatments worked in most of the study participants. Ultrasound Cavitation only achieved a poor result in the research group in read about. I could probably find the sources if I needed to, it was a fair while ago. I am thinking I may try again. There is a new offer for near infrared but I suspect that it would be bad for my Lupus.

If anyone wants more info I would be happy to oblige. Maybe i should take before and after photos. (Oh the horror!)

    1. Hi JM Jazzy, thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience of Ultra Fat cavitation with us. Glad to hear you had some good results.

      Delete
    2. As JM Jazzy says, if Ultrasound fat reduction is described properly, it doesn't claim to be totally focussed on losing pounds.

It seems, yes, you can lose measurable pounds and kgs, if you have enough sessions, and the way your body is from use is right for that. And you do the exercise, drink lots, drain using green tea etc (essiac tea & senna tea also good ideas), eat little calories and healthily for a week or more after each session period.

But more than weight loss is the aim of weight distribution away from the biggest areas of fat build up.

This can be a real help for people, and there are lots, who have normal or skinny legs, hips arms, shoulders, or back etc., but a huge tummy or (more for men) fatty breast areas.

You can spend a year doing exercise but can only "over" exercise the very fat areas a little more than the rest of your body in order to lost weight. So it takes forever while most of your body looks quite fit, there are still these obvious very fatty parts.

For people with a lot of fat all over, it seems you're going to have to have groups of sessions concentrating on each area, over a longer time, but with a good exercise, liquids and reasonably healthy eating focus. (Or a good amount of the fat will be shunted here, there and back again.)

Many people try the healthy exercise, liquids and quite healthy food plans and don't get very far. They can't stay on it for more than 3 months without binging. So here the Ultrasound lipo is likely to really help.

  16. I also bought fat cavitation coupons from Paragon Studios and received the same unfriendly treatment with no explanations, simply had some paddles strapped to my thighs and was left alone the whole time with no explanation whatsoever. I later learnt after questioning that this wasn't fat cavitation but lipo laser. After 5 sessions I noticed absolutely no difference in terms of fat loss. I also had another 3 session coupon with them that I was not able to book with them and expired wasting another $99. However I was beyond caring at that point as my thighs started to looked dimply, like cellulite when there was none before.. so perhaps it was for the best! (They have gone back to being smooth & non-dimpy since then)

I'm still trying to figure out if fat cavitation still works and if I was just unlucky in going to Paragon Studios

    1. Hello, thank you for leaving a comment. Sorry to hear about your experience at Paragon Studios. It seem that all of us have received the same treatment and unfriendly experience. I wonder the same thing to be honest and according to some people who have commented here, it may be possible to get some positive results after a large number of session (about 10) assuming that they are done by real profesional and qualified people. Unlike the team we had to deal with :(

    2. Thanks for the reply. It's a bit hit and miss with the machines as you never know where they got it from so I thought I would research the machines as well. It seemsed that Ultrashape, Velashape.. and maybe coolsculpting machines looked most promising.

Ultrashape was way too expensive so I had booked in a Velashape II appointment last weekend (found a coupon on livingsocial). The place I went to was much friendlier, knowledgable and I think I can notice a tiny improvement already!

  17. Hello all,
i wish I would have come upon this blog before I bought my ultrasound cavitation package of nine sessions. I am going today for my eighth session and have seen absolutely no positive results. all sessions have been performed on abdominal area, for 20 min each. Initally they used a round metal flat disk, poured either oil or used petroleum jelly to move the head around the treatment area. My next session, they used a lymphatic aparatus, a small cup shaped device that performs suction, over the treatment area, they alternated these two over my seven sessions. The only discomfort I felt after a couple of sessions was bloating. They too said to drink lots of water, approx. 1gallon per day, and excersice,do not eat fatty foods. They never took measurements, so they do not track improvement. I now understand why, if I eat low calories, excercise, drink gallons of water, the fact is that I lose the inches a dat cells because of a diet regimin and not because of the positive effects of the treatment, as I have now know that it does not work. The techs (that's what they call themselves to make them more credible) all keep asking after every session if I have seen improvements, I answer honestly that I haven't. I know that there desperate women or men that even if there are no true results, they convince themselves that they do see them... Not trying to be negative but I have seen and experienced first hand how many of these places know the effect of the use of suggestive psycology. Anyway, this has been my experience and I so glad to have come upon this blog to let others know that this is a scam that feeds off the vanity of people, mine included. unfortunately I had bought a similar package to what I thought was a different procedure and different location but it turns out that its for the same procedure only named differently, makes me wounder why. By the way, I got both through groupon and I plan on calling groupon to see what I can do to save my dollars rather than waste them on a useless procedure.

  20. Hi, I am a medical imaging PhD candidate, my wife wants to go for the CAV, I am still reading and doing some query on it.
I have a small comment on your concern regarding its harmful nature, Ultrasound in general isn't harmful since it is a non invasive technique, in other words, it is not like X-Rays which might hurt tissues, which is why it is used in baby scans. However, in CAV, the prolonged exposure to US will heat tissues and this might hurt fetus but not yourself, since it is targeted to FAT tissues, this will affect, if any, FAT tissues, which might affect in turn a fetus FAT tissues if existing.
Regardless if it works or not, testimonials vary from useless to awesome, I still didn't get any granted answer.

  21. Hello,
I saw this post and wanted to say, I agree it works on some not all. I think if your diet is horrible and you don't follow instructions then yes you through your money away. I've had this done twice,Both times on my stomach, The first time I purchased a Groupon for it and had it done..it was at a school place here in tampa, fl...It was not a pleasant visit since most of the ladies there don't speak English...I believe the girl told me "I from Russia no speak english good ...sorry: well, needless to say I didn't really notice a difference...I purchased 6 treatments and did 5. A friend of mine went to a place in S Tampa called Hollywood body wraps she said they did hers there and her legs look great she was bragging so much ...I decided to try it...The Lady explained everything to me...I was really surprised, I did notice a little difference on my first...but more 4 days later as she stated...They tell you what to after the treatment.( which I think made a big difference) Yes, I did a total of 7 treatments and you do feel a bit exhausted sometimes but that is usually when I didn't drink enough water that day...other then that I am happy I tried it again! Good Luck to everyone. I'm going back for my legs :)

The other 2% is split between Roasted Dandelion Root tea and an occasional Crystal Lite. I take 7 Keto DHEA along with my multi vitamin......can you say I want this tummy down!! LOL But seriously around my lower pooch I see a big difference in the fat in that area...I had a very defined crease or fold of fat on both sides that now is diminishing. I have 7 more treatments to go....fingers crossed for more drastic changes

  23. I just got my fist treatment on my belly today. And according to the measurements, I lost 2 inches in my belly after one treatment! I am naturally a skeptic, so I wish I would have paid more attention to the taking of the measurments to make sure she didn't squeeze harder on the "after" measurements or something. It does seem like an amazingly good result for one treatment! But I also took before pictures, which I will compare to after pictures tomorrow. I've been drinking so much water today that I think a picture at this moment would be inaccurate. I will also take my own "after" measurements tomorrow and see how they compare to the "befores." But anyway, I'm excited if I really got that good of a result from one session! I'm sorry yours was not so successful.

p.s. In case body type is a factor, I'm a slim, pear-shaped woman with pockets of stubborn fat, like my belly, inner thighs, and arms. I eat healthy and exercise a lot, so I'm not sure if that has made or will make any difference in the result.

  25. To get the best results, you have to understand a few basics about what the cavitation does. Ultrasound frequencies cause thousands of microscopic air bubbles to surround the lipocyte (fat cell) membranes and with vibration, the bubbles create enough pressure to cause the fat cells to break up instantly. The contents of the broken lipocytes are then moved through the lymphatic system to the liver and are safely metabolized and excreted from the body. If your liver, colon and urinary tract are not in optimal condition, it is difficult for your body to excrete the fat. Your therapist/technician should have advised you of a proper nutritional and supplemental regimen to follow for at 7 days after your procedure.

I am personally using it to help me with a few problem areas after losing over 70 pounds. I did not see the results I expected at first because I didn't follow my consultants advice. After the 3rd session and making up my mind not to waste my money, I did what she suggested and began to see results in my abdomen. Hope this helps you.

  28. Hi Cyndie,

For targeted weight loss I am happy to recommend acupuncture. It's not advertised but you can ask if they do it. It's really gaining popularity in Asia. The best part is that it takes only a few weeks, 50% private health rebate and the weight loss is real fat and permanent. After the course, you can go back to your normal diet and not gain any weight. I did this for 2 weeks feb 2012 and lost 6kgs. My face, arms, tummy (flat after 3 kids) and inner and outer thighs. I now weigh 54kgs and sz 8. The weight has stayed off. The transformation in such a short time is just incredible. Not all acupuncture clinics do this, you need to find a good one. It's also therapeutic and relieved the aches in my body.

I would like to hear back from the lady who purchased a machine to use at home, I had a few treatments done on my legs, butt and face and did see a difference, but simply could not afford to keep paying the high amount of money so now I am looking at investing in a machine to use at home, if anyone has purchased one for home use I would love to know which one and how much you paid.

    Bettina :)

    1. Thank you for your comment. I didn't realise the treatment could be done on the face. Was it painful?
